About me,
As an artist, painting has been the medium that has allowed me to express myself most naturally, allowing my work to transmit luminosity, tonality, plasticity as well as my fascination for colour.The intention behind these surfaces is to open up possibilities of self-reflection, evoking to the viewer an integrative, perhaps transpersonal experience. My images are not intended to be finished pieces but more like open dialogues between the observer and the observed. I feel part of my work as an artist is to open doors and create bridges into different realities best experienced by the mindful, silent observation of the one in front of them.
Como artista, la pintura ha sido el medio el cual me ha permitido expresar más naturalmente mi visión creativa, pudiendo transmitir luminosidad, tonalidad, plasticidad y mi fascinación por el color.La intención más allá de solo crear imágenes es de abrir posibilidades para que el espectador se experimente a sí mismo evocando una experiencia integradora, quizás transpersonal. Mis obras no son piezas acabadas si no diálogos abiertos entre el observador y lo observado. Parte de mi trabajo como artista siento que es el de abrir puertas y crear puentes hacia otras realidades las cuales se experimentan mejor a través de una observación silenciosa y consciente.
Born 1971, Mexico City-now based in Vancouver island, Canada. I have been a world traveller and explorer of ancient and contemporary cultures as well as spiritual beliefs and practices. I believe in a higher creative source or spirit interacting in our lives, even if we are not aware of it. Through art, I open up to this higher source with the intention to transmit this connection in my work. My art becomes a mirror of my own evolution and my practice my guide. Through the balance of opposites, unifying the parts, remembering the forgotten, I try to find harmony and the integration of the whole experience body/mind. My Artistic path which is no different from my life path, is about finding reconciliation, integration and connection to our selves and others and knowing and accepting who we are. Exploring my work you will find themes such as bliss, connection, integration, reconciliation, peace, introspection, contemplation. Making art strengthens my appreciation of the world and my gratitude to be part of creation.
Samantha is an accomplished woman; resilient, curious, flexible, with a wide circumference of awareness and intensity at its core. Not unexpectedly she has a fine eye for colour and pattern, and is very available to beauty, natural beauty and “found” beauty. A dedicated artist, she is also a dedicated mother and a champion of the family constellation. And she is an ardent spiritual practitioner…as perhaps every serious artist is, though not necessarily so consciously or so declaratively. She sees her art both as a practice and as an adjunct to her practice. It is this devotion that provides a lens through which she views the many aspects of a busy life and the larger universe. Art, she believes, in contrast to mere illustration, holds a mirror to the Self; offering the artist, as well as the viewer, possibilities for evolution, even for transcendence. The challenge for every artist may be to put a very personal vision into the world with only the hope that it will find a resonance, that the “right” people will discover and respond to it. Art does anticipate its collaboration with an audience. However, long before that exists as even a possibility, there is the business of making the private vision manifest. No matter the form, visual arts, the written word, or the so-called performing arts, all require the untold hours of practice, the discipline that conquers craft. All include extended periods of solitude in which the artist is purely practitioner. So, while all serious art entails a kind of spiritual practice, Samantha couples art and practice with her conscious longing for growth; her love for certain spiritual traditions, the desire to unlock neurotic patterning, to see beyond cultural conditioning and expectations; to opening new possibilities, in herself and her viewer, that she and we may all inhabit more fully our true potential.

Inspiration
I search for a deeper connection to life, as well as a sense of peace and empathy with my surroundings. My path as an artist is an integrative path of understanding the world and my self in a profound and liberating way. I find inspiration in experiences that lead us to find deeper connections to the self. From a walk in nature, a deep meditation, to a therapeutic integrative process.
In some precious moments of my life, when I have found a deeper connection to life and to myself is when I see my work evolve and find its own voice.
Techniques
When I paint I use mainly oils and acrylics, however, you will also find mixed mediums such as pens, crayons, gold leaf and paper. I paint over different surfaces such as canvas, wood, masonite panels and paper.
My prints are printed in high-quality archival acid-free art paper.
Recently, I have also been exploring Land art. As part of my daily walks in nature, I play with elements such as rocks, leaves, earth ending up with designs and effemeral constructions, which I then photograph.
